To Richard Haines New York City is an endless runway. When he first moved to the city to pursue illustration, he instead found a successful career as a fashion designer. Through fashion design, working for such brands as Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis, Sean Combs and Bill Blass, he developed a keen eye for the often overlooked details of form, fabric and how a garment falls on the body.
To be perfectly up front here, I’d not landed on his name before and after a little dig on Richard realised quickly that FRI was doing what it was meant to …we’d landed on one of those people who inspire the bigger names. Richard’s work as a fashion illustrator puts to paper the energy and soul of a collection for the fashion world’s nobility.
His chirpy and loveable nature brings such an approachable and easy to consume rendering of his clients’ ideas. I have yet to meet the man in the flesh, but I will be digging in to his FRIs with gusto!
